What is this day about?
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is held on the 4th of August each year to celebrate the early years, and promoting the importance of early years education and care for our little Boorai (babies).
It involves recognising the critical role that family, community, country and culture play in early childhood development for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children. This event encourages community to continue to fight for better access to culturally appropriate early childhood education for our children through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations (https://aboriginalchildrensday.com.au/what-is-childrens-day/) .
THE THEME FOR 2019 NATIONAL ABORIGINAL AND TSI CHILDREN’S DAY
We Play, We Learn, We Belong
We Play on our land.
We Learn from our Ancestors.
